Another Great Service For Unemployed Advertising People

picture-8

If you’re in advertising and unemployed, chances are you like free stuff. And since you’re on the nexus of hipness, you’re probably  into books, movies, music, and video games too.

Enter Old Switcheroo, where you “get rid of your [old] stuff and get something new in return.” Here’s a description from their site:

Old Switch·er·oo n.

  1. A place to trade your books, movies, music and video games.
  2. Easy to use.
  3. Absolutely FREE!

List your books, movies, music and video games. Mail them out and receive credits. Use your credits to get books, movies, music and video games from others. Trade, swap, exchange… whatever you call it, get rid of your stuff and get something new to you in return.

Haven’t tried it yet, but I plan to. Fantastic idea. Especially when you’re broke and too cool to admit it.

Another site to take a look at that has been around since 2004 is http://www.swaptree.com. They have built up a good size user-base = lots of stuff to trade. A nice feature is that you can print postage right from your computer – never leave the house! Isn’t that what cyberspace is all about?

Great site Eric. Thanks for sharing. I’m actually going to try to incorporate a barter section of the site (at some point. So many ideas. So little money to execute.)

@eric_b There are some fundamental differences between OS and ST, which can be found here: http://iannopollo.com/articles/2009/03/21/old-switcheroo—swap-your-stuff

It all depends on how people want to trade their stuff.
