I Haven’t Been Very Reliable Lately

I wanted a regular schedule of features on PFTA, and I dropped the ball. I wanted to have the beta un-beta’d by now, and that didn’t happen. I wanted to make this community thrive and give people an outlet for hope and opportunity. Instead, I’ve posted sparsely and allowed my inbox to overflow with un-replied to messages.

The fact is, finishing Lemonade and doing whatever I can to make ends meet has been dominating my life. And even those things are suffering. But I cannot expect Please Feed The Animals to have any kind of future if I am not, well, feeding the animals.

For those readers who have stuck with PFTA as it all gets sorted out, you rock. I owe you one.

For those I’ve lost, I’m going to go out of my way to get you back.

  1. Ah, c’mon, it’s not like you’re making a movie or something. Oh wait, you are. And I for one cannot wait to see the final cut.

I totally understand the need to “make ends meet,” which presently has been challenging with no freelance projects on the horizon.

But let me just reinforce that the work you’ve done with PFTA has been a great source of inspiration/encouragement/sanity for me during this period of irregular employment. And for that, THANK YOU!

Feed ing the animals is a big job when you need to eat as well. Perhaps your job is to create hope with the movie and book and inspire someone else to take on the website side of the work.

This could be a great use of Crowdsourcing. How can your audience help?

    I agree with Mark here.

You have a rare opportunity with truly viral marketing here… a definite “build it and they will come” experience IMO.

Your movie trailer is only the beginning…

Looking forward to seeing where this all goes.

    Best,
    Jeff

Jeff & Mark…I would love for that to happen. The design of the beta, the IA, everything…has been done by people who wanted to make it succeed. Volunteers who came to the rescue to make a better experience. But the biggest issues is development. This is a hard cost…very few devs are willing to donate their time since most are in such high demand. Skookum has done a great job with the beta, but they are too busy to make the next phase a priority.

We’re working on a plan C, which I’m excited about. And I wouldn’t discount your ideas for a genuinely mutually beneficial crowdsourcing experience.
