JOB DESCRIPTION
As New Business Director, you will lead new business and outreach activities, with responsibility in three areas:
1. Ownership of Luminosity’s marketing plan
. Work with leadership team to define goals for the new business program
. Develop marketing materials (sell sheets, case studies, web content, credentials presentation)
. Efficiently use internal and external resources to implement marketing activities
2. Develop relationships with key prospects
. Define the ideal target
. Build/maintain prospect contact list
. Identify way to mine contacts of leadership team
. Build relationships between agency and key prospects
. Understand the business and marketing challenges of key prospects
. Maintain regular contact with identified prospects to educate them and predispose them to Luminosity
. Develop sales strategies for key prospects
. Lead RFP responses
. Organize, direct and make arrangements for new business presentations
3. Increase Luminosity’s profile
. Represent Luminosity at marketing industry events
. Create relationships with industry reporters and editors
. Develop relationships with agency search consultants
. Cultivate Luminosity’s digital footprint through active participation on social networking sites
PROFILE SOUGHT
You should be a digitally-savvy relationship manager from a marketing communications agency or marketing consultancy who is eager to make a name for yourself in the industry. You’ve been promoted ahead of your peers at every step of your career and now you are ready to run your own show. While you might or might not be currently in a new business role, you’ve worked in new business or strategic sales at some point during your career and have a solid understanding of the elements of a successful new business program. You have already begun cultivating a personal digital footprint and are excited to have a brand platform from which to launch it to the next level.
You have a high energy personality. You are passionate about the future of marketing communications and can engage with anyone on the subject. Whenever you attend an industry function, you come home with a fistful of business cards. Your co-workers accuse you of knowing everybody and you feel comfortable initiating conversations with senior marketing executives.
The New Business Director is a member of the firm’s leadership team, reporting to the President. The position requires bachelor’s degree (or MBA) and 5-8 years of account management/new business experience at a marketing communications agency, marketing research firm or marketing consultancy. Media sales executives with agency-side experience will be considered. The position is located in the New York City office.
